The Heart of America Star Party is held at the Astronomical Society of Kansas City's Dark Sky Site. The Dark Sky Site was developed for and by amateur astronomers. Please come and join us for:

excellent viewing, located 75 miles south, away from Kansas City lights, which results in nearly 6.7 limiting magnitued (based on SQM-L averages);

the comraderie of others with the same passion for the night sky;

informational presentations by experts in the field of astronomy;

located in a wide area that has plenty of room for tents, trailers, and RVs; electricity for astronomical equipment; portapotties and showers on site (please bring your own drinking water). The site is located 15 miles from Butler MO for hotels, restaurants, etc.

NOTE: Pre-registration must be postmarked on or before the deadline date, which will be announced. After that all registrations incur the $20 per adult registrant late feel (This also includes onsite walk-in registrations). Late registrations cannot be guaranteed meals or clothing. Please do not mail registrations after the deadline date. Instead, call or email your intention to come, then register and pay the late registration fee when you arrive.
NOTICE ABOUT ELECTRICITY:
A limited number of RV stations (120v-30A) will be chosen again for 2013 by lottery draw. Last year, we were able to provide power to all who needed it. A few receptacles are reserved to used to extend power to other users on a first-come, first-serve basis.) You can enter the lottery by checking the box on the registration form. |
